XtalBase has its own messaging facility. Within the system you can send messages to other users who are registered with Xtalbase. If you have received a new message there will be a note displayed on the entrance page with a link leading to the message view.

Fields in the messages table

Key	Database field	Header	Description
NUMID	NUMID	NUMID	The numerical id.
ID	ID	ID	The id of the message.
Owner	OWNER	Owner	The owner of the message.
Sender	SENDER	Sender	The sender of the message.
Recipient	RECIPIENT	Recipient	The recipient of the message.
Dat	DAT	Date	The date on which the message was last changed.
ReadDat	READDAT	Read Date	The date on which the message was read.
Subject	SUBJECT	Subject	The subject of the message.
Status	STATUS	Status	The status of the message (not sent, sent or sent and read).
Text	TEXT	Text	The body text of the message.
Share	SHARE	Shares	The Share field is used to give other users viewing or modifying rights for a certain object. Permissions can be given to specific users, to the group to which the object owner belongs to and to all users.

Icon	Description
	display (and edit) the message
	create a new message
	copy the current message
	view messages
	delete the message
	send the message per e-mail and store a copy in the recipients mailbox
	send the message (place the message in the recipients mailbox
	update the message
